Capacity-building for plant genetic resources in the PICTs

SPC is delighted to present the capacity-building of a Pacific island (Fijian) scientist, Dr Amit Sukal, who attained his PhD in Australia through the Australian Centre for International Agricultural Research (ACIAR) under the John Allwright Fellowship. His research work established protocols for badnaviruses in yams which means that genetic material for yams from CePaCT can now be distributed to achieve food and nutrition security in the region.
