Dr. Paula Vivili is the new Director-General of SPC since 10th November 2025. Dr Vivili previously served as SPC’s Deputy Director General, Science and Capability for five years and before that as the Director of the Public Health Division at the Pacific Community as has held this position for six years (from 2013 to 2020). Prior to joining SPC, he worked for the Ministry of Health in Tonga for almost 20 years. This experience will assist Dr. Vivili in his new role as it provides him with an intimate knowledge of the Pacific Community, its people, and partners. Dr. Vivili holds undergraduate degrees in Human Nutrition (University of Otago) and Medicine (University of the South Pacific) as well as a master’s degree in International Public Health (University of Sydney). In addition, he has also undertaken a World Health Organisation fellowship at the University of Auckland and Auckland Hospital in Ophthalmology.
