The second phase of the Pacific Islands Literacy and Numeracy Assessment (PILNA) trial begins this week. This phase involves the PILNA Data entry operators who will sort and record the responses of students and teachers in the trial. The trial for the PILNA 2021 research concluded last week. Vanuatu was the last of the 13 participating countries to conduct the trial. This week, the data entry team, which comprises 22 people, will be trained to sort, compile, verify, and code or transcribe source data from the PILNA paper scripts into electronic format. This is the first time coding will be conducted from one central location. It is also the first time for PILNA to have four literacy booklets and four numeracy with rotated items administered in the field trial. PILNA is a large scale assessment conducted by EQAP with the technical assistance of the Australian Centre for Educational Research (ACER).
