Following COVID-19, Cook Islanders have become more reliant on fishing for their local food security. The use of anchored fish aggregating devices (aFAD) is helping to take pressure off in-shore fish species. Discover how the Ministry of Marine Resources of the Cook Islands is enhancing the livelihoods and food security of their fishers. 

New Zealand (MFAT) is partnering with the Pacific Community to build greater capacity in FAD deployment and maintenance. In 2020, MFAT supported FAD training for 36 fishers and fisheries officers accross the Cook Islands.
