A concerted effort was made to raise awareness and prevent African Swine Fever from further spreading into the Pacific. The Pacific Community, through the European Union funded project “The Pacific Regional Integrated Food and Nutrition Security Initiative to COVID19 (PRISCO19) worked with partner agencies to train Biosecurity and Animal Health Officers throughout the region. In Fiji, Livestock Officers conducted consultations with pig farmers and educated them on ASF detection and prevention. SPC also partnered with the Pacific Horticultural and Agricultural Market Access Program (PHAMA Plus) to develop appropriate training and awareness materials.
