The Pacific Community (SPC) will be present at Our Ocean Conference 2023 (Panama City, Panama). From 2-3 March, SPC will support and represent Pacific countries and territories in promoting an enhanced access to science, sound policy advice and financing for a more sustainable ocean.
The 8th Our Ocean Conference is a momentous occasion for Pacific countries and territories to demonstrate their interest in undertaking integrated ocean management initiatives for sustainable blue economies, enhancing ocean science through the Pacific Community Centre for Ocean Science, and presenting the crucial role of the ocean-climate nexus. As the most significant ocean states, Pacific countries have a responsibility to promote ocean conservation and the sustainable use of ocean resources to protect biodiversity and reach their climate adaptation objectives.
This year, Palau – as the previous host of the Our Ocean Conference – will ensure that Pacific voices are heard, and their interests are represented internationally. Through Palau's commitment, the region is emerging as a driving force in creating sustainable solutions to protect our ocean and inspire the global community.
