SPC celebrating International Literacy Day

Happy International Literacy Day!

Today we join the world in highlighting the importance of literacy and how everyone should know the joys of reading and writing. Millions of adults (about 773million) in the world do not know these joys. Now with COVID19, which has forced many children out of school, more young people are at risk of being illiterate.

Quality education is critical for students to have strong literacy skills. EQAP supports 15 Pacific education systems to raise student achievements in literacy. This support includes teaching educators to design and implement effective literacy assessments, as well as conducting the only regional literacy assessment, PILNA.

EQAP’s Large Scale Assessment Team (LSA) undertakes this work. To promote the importance of literacy, our LSA team is sharing literacy lifehacks that families can adopt to sharpen their children's literacy skills.
