13 countries meet at the Pacific Community Headquarters for maritime security in the region

Noumea

The Pacific Community Ocean Science Centre (PCCOS) contributed this morning to the opening of the high-level seminar on "Maritime Security and Environmental Issues in the South Pacific" organised by the High Commission of the Republic in New Caledonia and the New Caledonia Maritime Zone Command. This two-day seminar brings together representatives from 13 countries in the Asia-Pacific region, notably from the navy, maritime police, and fisheries enforcement. Delegates will discuss the impact of climate change on maritime security, environmental risk preparedness, protection of the high seas and national waters, maritime disasters, and international cooperation. The Pacific Community is proud to host such a high-level international event on key issues for the Pacific region.
