Yesterday was World Hepatitis Day, raising awareness about viral hepatitis and the need for prevention, diagnosis, and treatment. 

In this 'Stat of the week', we highlight the proportion of one-year-olds fully immunised against diseases targeted by the World Health Organisation’s Essential Programme on Immunization—specifically focusing on the administration of three doses protecting against hepatitis B (HepB3). 

Three countries in the Pacific—Fiji, Niue and Tonga—have achieved an impressive 99% immunisation rate. 

These figures reflect the successful efforts of these countries in ensuring that their youngest populations are protected against hepatitis B.
