SPC has a bumper list of new publications from July to December 2022 that cover a range of technical, scientific and strategic reports. They showcase the increasing cross-cutting approach by SPC to the organisation’s development objectives in the region, including in climate change, health, fisheries management, population data, culture and strategic foresight.

PCCOS released its report on effective regional ocean management, while the Geoscience, Energy and Maritime Division worked with the Republic of the Marshall Islands’ (RMI) government to update the country’s climate change and health policy action plan.

The Fisheries Division released its business plan to 2027 (also published in French), its annual assessment of tuna fisheries and a report on the status of community-based fisheries management in the Pacific.

The Public Health Division published its epidemic and emerging diseases alert for the Pacific and the French version Alertes relatives aux maladies à potentiel épidémique et aux maladies émergentes en Océanie : rapport 2021.

The Human Rights and Social Development Division finalised the Pacific regional culture strategy for 2022–2032, and reports of the fifth meeting of the Pacific Ministers for Culture in English and French.

The Statistics for Development Division released several analyses covering the household income and expenditure surveys and censuses in Kiribati, RMI, Tonga and Vanuatu.

The Land Resources Division published a history of soil research in five Pacific countries, and a regional guide for soil sampling.

As part of its organisational visioning exercises, SPL’s compendium on strategic foresight (also published in French: Recueil de pratiques océaniennes de prospective stratégique), is aimed at documenting approaches to strategy combined with Pacific ways of doing and knowing.
