Autalavoua lives in the southeast of Upolu, where he fishes to feed his family. He is the Principal Fisheries Officer at the Fisheries Division of the Ministry of Agriculture & Fisheries in Samoa. As an advocate within the CBFM, he helps the Department of Fisheries sustainably manage community resources. Autalavoua believes that local communities, who know their fish and fishing grounds better than anyone else, are crucial in protecting these resources. His mission is to empower communities in Samoa to take responsibility for their marine resources.
