Rusiate Ravulaca Waqata is the Service Center Manager for the Ministry of Fisheries, Fiji Rakiraki office in Ra. He is passionate about his work and his qoliqoli. Reviving fishing grounds is his life work having worked in the ministry for the last 12 years. He gets the challenges that communities face and he knows the solutions. In his lifetime he has witnessed the depletion of fish stocks. He remembers his grandfather returning from fishing with a big catch for good feed. This is not the case today, but his work is changing mindsets among fishers to fish smarter to help revive fishing grounds.
